Fabric prep week: what we ask before opening a workspace
A lightweight checklist for teams about to mirror our labs inside their own tenant.

Opening a shared workspace sounds trivial until gateway credentials, regional defaults, and guest access collide. We send a prep packet with seven items: capacity owner, default region, guest policy, gateway owner, break-glass account, dataset naming prefix, and refresh quiet hours. Teams that complete the packet before day one avoid half the support tickets.
We also ask for a single "workspace librarian" contact. That person does not need admin rights on everything; they simply know who to ping when something opaque blocks a lab. The role reduces thrash when multiple well-meaning admins change settings mid-cohort.
The checklist ends with a reminder: labs use anonymized data. If a team insists on live data, we schedule a separate risk review with success advisors before mentors touch anything.
